Friendy is a mobile app that allows users to rent a friend or be rented as a friend. Whether you’re seeking a companion to attend events, share experiences, or simply chat, Friendy connects people based on shared interests, location, and availability. The platform helps users create flexible, meaningful social connections, and even provides a secure payment system for these transactions.

2. How does Friendy work?

Friendy works by allowing users to create detailed profiles that include their interests, hobbies, personality, and availability. You can choose to:

  • Rent a Friend: If you’re looking for companionship, browse profiles of available friends and book someone whose interests match yours.
  • Be Rented as a Friend: If you’re available and want to offer companionship, you can list your availability and the activities you’re interested in. People can book you for their needs.

Both renters and those being rented can set the terms of the interaction, including time, location, and activities, ensuring a customized experience.

3. Who can use Friendy?

Anyone over the age of 18 can use the Friendy app. The app is ideal for people who:

  • Are new to a city and want to make local friends.
  • Need a friend for specific activities (like going to a concert, running errands, or attending a social event).
  • Want to engage in meaningful conversations or simply hang out.
  • Are looking for a flexible and low-pressure way to meet new people.

4. How do I create a profile?

Creating a profile is easy:

  1. Download the Friendy app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Sign up using your email address or using your mobile number.
  3. Complete your profile by adding personal details like your name, age, interests, hobbies, profession, and a profile picture.
  4. You’ll also need to indicate your preferences for renting or being rented, including what kind of activities or companionship you’re interested in.
  5. Once you’re set up, you can start browsing other users’ profiles or make yourself available for rent.

5. How do I rent a friend?

To rent a friend, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app and browse through available friends in your area.
  2. Filter the search results based on your preferences (interests, activities, location, etc.).
  3. Once you find a friend you’d like to rent, send a request or message to discuss details such as the activity, time, and location.
  4. After agreeing on the terms, you’ll discuss the rented amount and process of payment/payment mode and payment timing. We don’t interfere in this process. We only provide a platform to interact for both users.
  5. Meet with your rented friend and enjoy your time together.

6. How do I get paid if I’m rented as a friend?

If you are offering your time as a rented friend, you set your hourly or event rate when creating your profile. Once someone rents you, you’ll discuss the rented amount and process of payment/payment mode and payment timing. We don’t interfere in this process. We don’t want any share from your rented payment. If you don’t receive your rented amount, you can report that particular user. We will blacklist them, but we don’t provide any compensation. We recommend that you collect your rented amount first.

7. What should I expect from a rented friendship?

Expect a friendly, respectful, and enjoyable experience! The main idea behind Friendy is to foster social connections based on mutual interests and activities. Depending on your agreement, you might:

  • Go out for activities like movies, concerts, hikes, or sports.
  • Attend social events together (like parties or gatherings).
  • Chat, have coffee, or enjoy other relaxed social activities.

It’s important to agree on the expectations before meeting, including how long the interaction will last, the type of activities, and the payment structure.

8. What types of activities can I do with a rented friend?

You can rent a friend for any activity you both enjoy. Some popular options include:

  • Attending events (concerts, conferences, social gatherings).
  • Engaging in physical activities (going to the gym, hiking, running, sports).
  • Sharing hobbies (painting, music, board games).
  • Chatting and enjoying casual conversations.
  • Helping with tasks (errands, learning new skills, or work-related support).

Feel free to list specific activities you’re interested in when setting up your profile or searching for friends.

9. How are payments processed?

Friendy charges for usage only. Friendy uses a secure third-party payment processor (like G-Pay, PhonePe, Cards, etc.) to handle all financial transactions. You have to pay your rented friends through yourself, and Friendy expects honesty in this from you.

  • Renters: You pay upfront for the session, based on the agreed hourly rate or event fee.
  • Rented Friends: It’s up to you to collect the rented amount. Friendy recommends collecting payment first. Once the payment is done, complete your activity with honesty.

10. Are my payments secure?

Yes, Friendy uses industry-standard encryption to secure all payment data. We work with trusted third-party payment processors like G-Pay, PhonePe, and Debit/Credit Card, etc., to ensure that your financial transactions are safe. Your payment information is never stored on our servers.

11. How does Friendy ensure safety?

Friendy takes user safety seriously and includes multiple features to create a secure environment:

  • Profile Verification: We verify user identities and allow others to leave ratings and reviews after each interaction.
  • Secure Payments: All transactions are processed via secure third-party platforms.
  • Messaging System: We provide an in-app messaging system for users to communicate before and during the rental experience, reducing the need for sharing personal phone numbers or contact information.
  • Ratings and Reviews: After each rental experience, both renters and rented friends can leave reviews and ratings to ensure transparency and help other users make informed decisions.

12. Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule a booking, but please be mindful of other users’ time. Each booking is subject to the Friendy cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation Fees: If you cancel a booking within 24 hours of the scheduled time, you have to pay a minimum cancellation fee to your rented friend.
  • Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule, communicate with your friend and agree on a new time. The booking needs to be updated through the app.

13. What happens if something goes wrong during a rental?

If there’s an issue during your rental experience, such as misunderstandings, discomfort, or safety concerns, please contact Friendy customer support immediately. We take complaints seriously and will investigate any issues. Friendy has policies in place to resolve disputes, and your safety and satisfaction are our priority.

14. How do I delete my account?

If you want to delete your Friendy account, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Go to your account settings in the app.
  2. Select “Delete Account” or “Deactivate Account.”
  3. Confirm your decision. Once your account is deleted, all your data will be permanently removed, except for information we are legally required to retain.
